Yesterday, according to reports, LG Display said the company plans to invest $8 billion 500 million to expand the production of OLED screen, which is naturally considered to be aimed at the new apple iPhone OLED panel design trends. Still, apple LG is still silent on the possibility of Apple's new OLED Display production line being injected into the LG Display.
The Investor reported today that despite the two companies refused to confirm financing plan, industry observers said Apple may have decided to invest in LG Display.
According to reports, if the funds from Apple have not been confirmed, LG Display management is unlikely to end the $8 billion 500 million amount of this huge investment. LG Display executives also said at today's conference call that the company would receive some external funding support through the "strategic partnership", but it did not specifically name the Apple Corp. "For strategic partnerships, the company cannot disclose too much information, but our investment principle is hedging risks."
An unnamed source said that LG Display has been measuring the profitability of low margin iPhone orders. As the money comes from apple, the company will increase profits as well as reduce investment risk.
