Tencent Technology News, in the eyes of many consumers, Samsung Electronics is the world's largest maker of mobile phones and TVs, but Samsung and Nokia, Huawei, is also a telecom equipment manufacturer to help operators build the network.
According to the latest news from foreign media, Samsung Electronics recently cooperated with a Japanese operator to obtain the 1.7Gbps 5G test speed on the HSR train.
According to the U.S. technology news website ZDNET, Samsung conducted a joint trial with Japanese telecom company KDDI using various mobile communications devices developed by Samsung Electronics.
It was reported that the train was traveling at a speed of 100 km / h during the experiment. The tests included the on-board equipment to download 8K of ultra-high-definition video content through a 5G network and the overhead camera to upload the 4K video to the network.
In the experiment, Samsung gained 1.7Gbps network speed (1700 trillion). This speed, which means that within a few seconds you can download a high-definition movie.
Samsung Electronics said the test showed that passengers on the HSR train can communicate and surf the Internet through the 5G network and that the 5G network can even serve as the backbone of the train Wi-Fi. In passenger entertainment, security, data analysis and other fields, 5G will also bring tremendous value to the railway field.
An executive at a KDDI company in Japan said the trial proved that the 5G network has great uses in some vertical areas, such as high-speed trains.
The executive said KDDI will launch 5G online business by 2020.
As we all know, the 5G network is rapidly growing, getting closer to commercial time. Recently, the U.S. telecommunications giant Verizon announced that it will launch 5G network services in five U.S. cities by the end of next year. Another giant, AT & T, conducted a similar plan.
Like Ericsson, Nokia and Huawei, Samsung Electronics and Telecommunication Equipment Division is also cooperating with operators in various countries to carry out network tests. Previously, Samsung conducted tests in South Korea and local telecom company SK. Both sides have built some 5G communication base stations in South Korea.
Other Samsung carrier partners include the US chartered communications company, ranked fourth in the mobile operator Sprint and so on.
However, it should be pointed out that in the telecom equipment market, Samsung Electronics is currently in a weak position, and the global market has formed a pattern of fighting for the top three. Huawei, Ericsson and Nokia have significant advantages. After exiting the handset market, Nokia spent 16.6 billion U.S. dollars acquiring Alcatel-Lucent and strengthening its telecom equipment business.
Samsung Electronics is the world's largest consumer electronics company, its products and business lines are very complex, in addition to consumers familiar with home appliances, mobile phones, Samsung also produces display panels, processors, memory chips, providing professional telecommunications equipment.
In addition to Samsung Electronics, there are a large number of companies under its parent company, Samsung Group, which also provide products and services in the IT and technology fields around the world.
