Xavier can intercept data from external and internal sensors, and provide deep sense neural network based on 360 degree surround sensing applications, supplemented by eye tracking, gesture recognition, and natural language understanding.

● A car equipped with the Nvidia DRIVE IX software development kit can alert drivers to safety hazards outside the car while keeping an eye on the driver's signs of drowsiness and distraction.

● In addition, DRIVE Xavier can also be used as a "first officer" to take over adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, and automatic lane change.

It is worth mentioning that the software can also be updated over Wi-Fi or cellular networks to enable additional functionality throughout the life of the vehicle.

All in all, Xavier AI is expected to provide a complete auto-driving vehicle solution for the average car manufacturer in the future.

Although the company claims it will not make its own cars, it does show off technology at its first self-driving BB8 (the name comes from the "spherical robot" in Star Wars).

In addition, Pioneer will work with Nvidia to integrate 3D LiDAR sensors for the DRIVE platform. From the announcement, we can see that their demonstration vehicle is an electric car that supports level 4 autopilot and looks like Volkswagen Golf.
