Models under the "Open Devices" project can be freely researched by Android developers and fed back to AOSP. Of course, the most immediate impact for users of open source projects is that as long as someone is willing to maintain it, Mobile phone ROM almost to get unlimited updates.

Sony's first Z mobile phone, the Xperia Z (L36H), launched in 2013, still has developers working with third-party ROM adapters such as LineageOS (successor to CM System) to version 15.0 Based on Android 8.0), in addition to a large number of private Brush package exists.

And because early code might be a little bit more unstable, Sony provided a tutorial that shows that all of this is for developers, and those interested in Android developers can participate directly in community activities on Sony's GitHub project page.

This is good news for consumers, and we are happy to see vendors doing the same.
