Google AI predicts winner of NCAA Final Four during live game

The search giant said that during this year's game, it has been working with the NCAA to focus on game statistics and data analysis, and how the Google cloud platform uses them. "We formed a team of technicians, data scientists and basketball enthusiasts who use Google Cloud Platform technology (such as BigQuery and Cloud Datalab) to build data processing workflows."

What Google can identify includes who has blocked the most shots per minute, and “whether teams with certain animal mascots will cause more crazy mistakes.” But the R&D team wants to see their AI and analysis tools on site. How is the performance during the game?

This experiment is also very interesting for watching live viewers, because once the midfield begins, Google will collect data to make predictions, and then make a TV commercial that will be aired before the start of the second half. Google said: "This may be the first time a company has used its own real-time predictive analytics to produce advertisements in live broadcast sports events."
