The Wall Street Journal reported that several Amazon customers had received e-mails telling them that their account was closed because of the high return rate. In many cases, customers will eventually be able to recover their accounts, but foreign media believe that this is a very extreme measure for companies that are known for their excellent customer service.
An Amazon spokesperson said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal: We hope everyone can use Amazon, but there are also very few cases where someone abuses our services for a long time. We never make these decisions lightly, but because there are more than 300 million customers around the world, we will take action when appropriate to protect the experience of all our customers. ”
Former Amazon executives told The Wall Street Journal that accounts can be terminated for "including acts that require too many refunds, returning wrong goods, or violating other rules (such as getting written comments)." In most cases, the algorithm will display the problematic account, and Amazon employees will decide whether they need to take action against the relevant customer.
