Google Chrome for Android now can cache news articles on Wi-Fi for offline reading

via:cnBeta.COM     time:2018/6/23 2:01:42     readed:359

Currently, many third-party applications can download articles or save pages offline, but these methods usually require the user to manually select articles to save. The updated Google Chrome browser for Android today automatically downloads articles recommended based on interests and location.

Because cached articles are Google personalized articles for users, they may not always be what the user wants to read. However, it may be helpful for some users who want to get some content for offline viewing while commuting or waiting in a limited connected area.

Google's new features are targeting emerging markets, where data access is limited and is being rolled out to 100 countries including India, Nigeria, Indonesia and Brazil. This feature is useful for anyone in a limited data plan, so hopefully it will soon be available in the U.S. market.
