According to a survey by the National Copyright Administration of China, the Internet content market in China increased by 27% in 2017 from the previous year to reach 636.5 billion yuan. The bureau believes that it will continue to expand at the same rate in the future.

Charge-based content accounts for almost half. Especially in the video field of movies, TV series and variety shows, it has grown to about 2 times in actual years in 2017. It will also grow by more than 60% in 2018, driving the overall growth of the Internet content market.

The soaking of mobile payments used by 566 million people in China is supporting the fee-based business. A lot of paid content supports mobile payment APP payment. Mobile payments typically require an associated phone number, ID card, and bank account. When you subscribe to a paid service, you don't need to enter your personal information one by one, you can purchase it with a simple operation.

China is currently strengthening the investigation of illegal content. According to statistics from the National Copyright Administration, 2,554 websites with pirated content were closed in 2017. In the same year, the number of illegal content investigations increased to nearly 3-4 times four years ago, reaching 543. It reveals the intention of the Chinese government to develop the content industry.

Statistics from Japan's Content Product Circulation Overseas Promotion Agency (CODA) show that the number of confiscated DVDs in China in 2017 was reduced to less than one-tenth of the 2011 fiscal year. In China, the situation of illegal content viewing is improving, and the agency said that “the content business between Japanese and Chinese companies is increasing”.
