Tencent Technology News, Tesla has become the benchmark for the global electric vehicle industry. In the past, the positioning of electric luxury cars made Tesla's influence in the automotive industry insufficient, but the mass production of Model 3 is changing everything.

According to the latest news from foreign media, in the third quarter, Tesla’s car sales in the United States have surpassed that of Mercedes-Benz, and it is expected to surpass BMW in the fourth quarter.

Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, etc. are well-known brands in the global automotive industry. If sales exceed these brands, Tesla's industry status is rapidly rising. It is no longer a small electric vehicle manufacturer in the past.

According to today's US newspaper website, recently, Aherton Research analyst Jean Baptiste Su released a report that in the third quarter in the US market, Tesla sold a total of 69,925 electric vehicles (including Model X, Model S, Model 3, etc.). The model), but the Mercedes-Benz brand sold only 66,542 vehicles in the United States (including Mercedes-Benz trucks). In contrast, Mercedes-Benz has been overtaken by Tesla.

In the third quarter, German BMW sold 71,679 vehicles in the United States. The analysts predict that Tesla will surpass BMW in the fourth quarter.

American auto industry observer Jeremy Acevedo said that when Tesla produced Model X and Model S that year, they were just niche manufacturers, and there was no threat to traditional automakers. But with the expansion of Model 3, Tesla has begun to eat into the cake of auto companies.

In the early days, Tesla first produced luxury models such as the Model X, priced at more than 100,000 US dollars, these luxury cars became the status symbol, Muske also used these products to prove that the electric car can also compete with the fuel car in performance.

This year, Tesla launched Mass Model 3, the company's first Volkswagen model, priced between $35,000 and $55,000, which is more cost-effective. So far Tesla has won more than 400,000 units. Orders, are working overtime to deliver production vehicles to consumers in various countries.

Another car industry veteran Akshay Anand said that Tesla's growth is not surprising. Tesla has successfully created its own brand and sparked market attention. Tesla will even surpass the automotive industry, and Google, Apple has become a lifestyle brand.

In the past period, Tesla and head of Musk suffered a privatized acquisition, and the US Securities and Exchange Commission had a total fine of 40 million US dollars. Musk must also resign as chairman. Fortunately, however, Tesla is progressing smoothly in terms of expanding production of automobiles.

It should be pointed out that, so far, Tesla has not yet come up with its own "hands-on".

In order to improve financial performance, in Model 3 production, Tesla first produced a high-priced version of the price of about 50,000 US dollars, including the performance version, four-wheel drive version.

The analysts who wrote the report said that Tesla will mass-produce and deliver a slightly cheaper standard version of Model 3 (priced at $35,000) later this year, when all electric vehicles, hybrids, and plug-in hybrids will be produced. Moving companies such as Nissan, Toyota (Lexus), GM, Ford, and Chrysler will all be affected.

In the past few months, Musk has led Tesla to do everything possible to increase the production of Model 3 and achieve the target of 5,000 units per week by the end of June. According to Tesla's official announcement, a total of 83,500 electric vehicles were delivered in the third quarter, which is equivalent to 80% of all sales last year.

In the third quarter, Tesla produced 80,000 vehicles, which is equivalent to twice the production in the second quarter.

Tesla has previously said that in the mid-size high-end sedan segment, the Model 3 sales in the US market in July exceeded all competitors' combined (Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Jaguar, Lexus), accounting for 52% of the market. .
