The second minor maintenance update for the Linux Lite 4.x release branch is officially online.Jerry Bezencon announced today that the Linux Lite 4.2 release is officially online. Based on the Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS (Bionic Beaver) released by Canonical, Linux Lite 4.2 uses the Linux 4.15.0-38.41 kernel, and users can install Linux 3.13 to 4.19 kernels as needed.
Linux Lite 4.2 will ship with Firefox 63.0 "Quantum" web browser, Mozilla Thunderbird 60.2.1 mail and news client, LibreOffice 18.104.22.168 office suite, VLC 3.0.3 multimedia player, GIMP 2.10.6 image editor and Upgraded Lite Welcome tool, Redshift tool for adjusting color temperature.
Jerry Bezencon wrote in today's statement: "Redshift is now part of Lite Software. Redshift adjusts the color temperature based on the position of the sun, setting different color temperatures at night and during the day. From dusk to early morning, the color temperature is too natural to allow your eyes to adapt slowly. ”
Another exciting new feature in the Linux Lite 4.2 release is the ability to install the operating system directly from the boot menu. The ability to install Linux Lite on the Live boot menu is back, meaning that users no longer need to start a live session to install the system, speeding up the entire installation process.
