It is reported that the mummy was believed to have died at the age of 40, first discovered in 1940, when it was wrapped in a blanket and mat made of reeds. Thanks to dry conditions, the mummy's skull was completely preserved and its remains were later transported to the Nevada State Museum.

In 1996, radiocarbon dating showed that the mummy had a history of about 9,400 years, making it the oldest mummy in North America. A year later, the fallencourt Shoshoni tribe claimed that he wanted to return to the remains, but it was rejected at the very beginning. In 2016, after obtaining tribal permission, Willerslev carried out a genetic analysis of the remains, which showed that the mummy was most closely related to native Americans. Now, the mummy was handed over to the Fallon Paiute-Shoshone department and was re buried.
