According to the latest exposure from Taiwan,Intel is preparing for the next generation of desktop mainstream products codenamed Comet Lake-S (CML-S/Comet Lake), with up to 10 core 20 threads!
But Comet Lake-S is the same as Coffee Lake-S and Coffee Lake-S Refresh because of delayed labor at 10 nm.Still using 14nm processThat is 14 nm after two optimizations.
Of course, how to optimize the 14nm is also 14nm after all. Considering that the power consumption and heating of i7-8700K and i9-9900K have become more and more severe along the way, the latter has to use advanced brazing heat dissipation at last. How to control two more cores is a difficult problem, at least the multi-core frequency will be significantly reduced.
As for Intel 10nm products, the first generation of Cannon Lake has basically failed, and the next Ice Lake sees it as going to have to wait until 2020.
On the other hand,Intel, the mainstream 10 cores, will change significantly in architecture. The 10 cores are not connected by a single ring bus in series, but put on two ring buses.
How the 10 cores are distributed is unknown, but it remains to be seen whether they will result in increased core communication delays.
AMD will roll out the Zen 2 architecture of 7Nm process next year, includingThe serverLevel EPYC Xiaolong and Level Ryzen Ruilong, the latter should also exceed the current level of 8 core 16 threads.
