Intel recently updated its Memory Reference Code (MRC) to enable the memory controller in the 9th generation Intel Core desktop processor to increase the capacity supported by each DIMM memory slot from 16 GB to 32 GB, and then the total memory capacity of the system can reach 128 GB when two DIMM memory slots are installed in each dual memory channel (2DPC).
Asus said such upgrades provide users with greater flexibility in running memory-intensive applications and tasks.
It is understood that some users of ASUS Z390 series motherboard can now update their system through the latest BIOS released on ASUS official website to support up to 128GB of memory capacity. BIOS updates for other ASUS Z390 series motherboards will also be released soon. The Z390 motherboard is compatible with the latest 32GB memory modules listed in the QVL below.
