Barclay Bank of England, one of the largest financial institutions in the world, announced an agreement with Alipay on March 14th: Barclaycard, a subsidiary of Barclay, which handles nearly half of the British card business, will help its over 110 thousand British businesses to access Alipay.

As a well-known bank with a history of more than 300 years, Barclays ranks first in its business in the country. Its business network covers retail, scenic spots, hotels, supermarkets, restaurants, gas stations and so on. Chinese tourists can see the nearby merchants and discounts in the Alipay, learn the business hours and routes, and Alipay's backstage can help British businesses better serve users better.

According to the UK tourism board, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Britain in 2019 will increase to 483 thousand, an increase of 43% over 2017. Last year, the number of users who used Alipay in Britain doubled. Nelson released a research report at the beginning of 2019. The proportion of Chinese outbound tourists using mobile payment for the first time exceeded that of cash. Nearly 60% of the respondents said that the access to Alipay brought double growth in passenger flow and turnover.
