On May 6, IDC's latest "China's Public Cloud Service Market (the second half of 2018) Tracking" report showed that the overall market size of China's public cloud services (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS) in the second half of 2018 exceeded US$4 billion, of which the IaaS market grew by 88.4% year-on-year, and the PaaS market grew by 124.3%.
According to the report, from the overall market share of IaaS and PaaS, Baidu ranked in the top five for the first time except Ali, Tencent, China Telecom and AWS, while from the market share of IaaS, Ali, Tencent, China Telecom, AWS and Jinshan Yun still occupied the top five and maintained the leading edge. In 2018, after the public cloud market, manufacturers have made frequent efforts. Huawei, Baidu, Tidal Wave, Jingdong, etc. are all able to benefit from their strong R&D and ecological strength, achieving a rapid growth of up to 2-8 times the average market level.
In 2018, the enthusiasm for the development of China's public cloud market is unprecedented. On the one hand, the practice of advanced entrants such as Ali, Tencent, China Telecom and Jinshan, on the other hand, the song of late-movers such as Huawei, Baidu, Tidal Wave and Jingdong has made great progress. At one time, there are many bright spots.
Fast iteration and innovation of cloud products: In 2018, the publication of public cloud products mainly focuses on seven key words: high performance computing, heterogeneous computing, container and server-free, machine learning and robot application, IoT platform, self-developed cloud native database, hybrid cloud.
Intelligent Cloud and Intelligence: Intelligent Cloud and Cloud Intelligence have become the future strategies of major public cloud service providers, not only in organizational structure adjustment, but also in product and service development. Integrated and convenient AI service capability based on cloud has become an important direction for public cloud service providers to compete.
Mixed cloud becomes a normal development: the diversified needs of enterprise users and the diversified development of public cloud service providers make the deployment, management and operation of mixed cloud gradually develop into a specialized market with initial scale, and it also shows strong attraction to more and more traditional information technology service providers and value-added developers.
Industry exploration is gradually coming to the ground: Although cloud computing applications in China's Internet industry have been relatively mature, the exploration of public clouds in the vast non-Internet industry has just begun. Ali, Tencent, Huawei, Baidu and Tidal Wave have combined their own advantages to define the in-depth development strategy of key industries, and continue to expand the market segments of the industry by cooperating with the ecological layout.
