Microsoft Announces Open Source Quantum Development Kit

Microsoft Quantum TeamAnnounced that the Quantum Development Kit (QDK) is open source.

The Microsoft Quantum team believes that their mission is to develop and deploy the world's most scalable and secure quantum computing system and support a rich ecosystem of domain experts, developers and researchers to solve today's most challenging The problem.

As early as two years ago, the Microsoft Quantum team launched the Microsoft Quantum Development Kit, which includes the Q# quantum programming language and compiler, getting started examples and tutorials, and the simulator and resource estimator for quantum programs. The QDK also includes VS and VS Code development environment extensions and integration with the Jupyter platform.

The Quantum team claims that the collective contribution of the quantum community will drive the necessary software advancements, from unlocking application algorithms to tools that will enable the optimizations needed to overcome hardware limitations. QDK's open source enables communities to contribute to quantum applications and algorithms, as well as advances in compilation, optimization, and tools.
