IT Home News July 18, Samsung's Galaxy Fold and Huawei's Matte X foldable phones have both been delayed to market, and both manufacturers are overcoming many challenges to bring a smartphone with foldable display to the market. But there is no doubt that sooner or later this new hybrid of smartphones and tablets will become part of our daily life, and most manufacturers will launch these products.
Sony is no exception. The company seems to be developing technology for devices with foldable displays. Recently, foreign media LetsGoDigital exposed a new Sony patent, revealing a new type of display with multiple sensors embedded in it.
The patented drawings show that the flexible display contains three different sensors: accelerometer, pressure sensor and temperature sensor. The purpose of these sensors is to collect information about the way the display is used. For example, the pressure sensor is not related to the touch sensitivity of the screen, but is placed in the middle of the display to detect when folding and unfolding.
This information will allow the device to accurately adjust the content displayed on the screen to provide a seamless experience. The development of this technology also takes into account double-sided displays, which means changing the color of the backscreen when it is used, or running a completely different application to achieve a multi-user experience.
How useful this is in reality remains to be discussed, but the development of flexible displays is always exciting. The more companies we participate in, the more likely we will get better equipment.
