The spokesman added that the company had no intention of competing with existing e-commerce companies in the country and that Alibaba Group would not oversee the development of the service.

A spokesman for UC Browser said that UC Browser will use its "extensive user base in India" to build e-commerce business. "This new service is in line with our strategy of enriching user experience and customer experience."

UC browser has more than 430 million users worldwide. India is one of its main markets, with more than 130 million users. According to StatCounter, a third-party data analyst, UC browser accounts for more than 23% of the mobile browser market in India, just behind Google Chrome, which has surged to 63% in recent years.

According to Sensor Tower, an application research company, UC browser is still one of the top 15 applications in India in terms of downloads from the Google Play Store App Store.

In recent years, the antenna of UC browser has been extended to other areas besides mobile browsing. Today, it works with more than 120,000 bloggers and more than 700 media to produce content, which is then made available to browser users.

UC browsers have launched some applications in recent quarters, targeting users who are trying to download videos from the Internet. UC Browser's application Vmate, which provides similar functions, recently received an investment commitment of $100 million from Alibaba, its parent company.

Yang Huaiyuan, Vice President of UC Browser Global Business, said that the company would cooperate with other companies to launch e-commerce services. Paytm, an Indian payment and electronics platform, was funded by Alibaba, which owns about 30 per cent of its shares.
