Netease Technologies News, April 25, according to foreign media reports, Softbank's HAPS Mobile said Wednesday it would invest $125 million in Alphabet's Loon project, which is dedicated to balloon networks.

Both HAPSMobile and Loon are committed to developing high-altitude flight network service equipment to provide high-speed Internet services to areas beyond the reach of terrestrial base stations. Loon carries equipment with a large balloon, while HAPSMobile uses a large drone.

In a joint statement Wednesday, Loon and HAPS Mobile said that cooperation may be the key to market adoption of product technology. The two sides are discussing whether they can use each other's technology, standardize their air and ground network equipment, and participate in supervision together.

The two companies say their partnership is one of the three largest wireless operators in Japan and one of the world's largest technology companies.
