The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 7 features a new carbon fiber body with a thickness of 14.95 mm (previous version with a thickness of 15.95 mm) and a weight of 1.09 kg (previous version weighs 1.13 kg). The notebook features an ultra-thin display bezel that mounts a 14-inch IPS LCD into a 13.3-inch body. Depending on the model, the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon will be equipped with a ThinkPad Privacy Guard, WQHD or Ultra-HD display panel. have4KThe screen's flagship SKU will have a 500 nits brightness and will feature the VESA's DisplayHDR 400 logo.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 7 laptop is equipped with Intel's Wi-Fi + Bluetooth adapter (specific models will support Wi-Fi 6), optional 4G / LTE Cat 9 or Cat 16 modem, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, USB 3.0 Type -A interface, GbE network card, HDMI 1.4 output and 3.5 mm audio interface for headphones.
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 7 notebook has significant advancements over its predecessor, including the improved Dolby Atmos audio subsystem with four speakers and four far-field microphones. There is also a 720p camera that supports infrared and a ThinkShutter privacy protection device. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 7 laptop comes with 51 Wh batteries and lasts up to 18.5 hours.
