In June this year, Shanghai megacore officially released the kx-6000 series of domestic x86 processors based on the 16nm process,It is the first domestic general purpose processor with main frequency of 3.0GHz, and supports dual channel ddr4-3200 memory.
The new generation of domestic general-purpose processor of megachip adopts SoC design. The chip integration degree is further enhanced, and the performance is improved by 50%. The performance power consumption ratio is three times of that of the previous generation product of megachip, which can bring more efficient interaction experience. At the same time, with the optimization of performance and power consumption, the kx-6000 series processor can better meet the configuration needs of mobile platform equipment.
In the actual test, the overall performance of the 8-core kx-6000 processor is comparable to that of Intel 7-generation core i5. According to the test of the previous generation of 28nm 8-core kx-5000 (Fritz chess, 7zip and cinebench), microcomputers are in line with i3-6100.
From this comparison, we can see that there is still a big gap in the single core performance of the domestic x86 processor. In other words, the performance of IPC is not enough, which is related to many factors. Architecture design, domestic technology, compiler / software optimization and so on will affect the performance, and can only be solved by continuous iterative upgrading of the architecture.
On the KX series, Shanghai Zhaoxin announced the KX CPU roadmap,Kx-7000 after kx-6000, will comprehensively upgrade the CPU architecture,Ddr5 memory and PCIe 4.0 are supported.
According to Wang Weilin, chief engineer of megacore, the performance target of kx-7000 is to reach the level of AMD in the same period, so their benchmarking CPU is at least zen2 level.
After the announcement of this news, many people think that megacore is boasting, but now the test proves that the goal of megacore is still hopeful to achieve.
In the GK database, the test results of the new generation 8-core processor of megacore were exposed at the beginning of this month. It is considered to be a kx-7000 processor, but it is still an early stage at present. The core frequency is only 2.0GHz, the single core score is 469 points, and the multi-core score is 3264 points. This achievement is weak in front of the latest nine generation core and 7Nm sharp dragon, among which the 8-core core i7-9700k and sharp dragon 73700x are 1316 and 126, respectively 6 points.
But don't forgetThe single core frequency of AMD and Intel processors has generally reached 4.5-4.9ghz, which is higher than the kx-7000 of 2GHz. The calculated average is 2GHz. The IPC performance of kx-7000 can almost reach 80-90% of that of core and sharp dragon 7, which has been a great achievement.
However, due to the large gap between domestic teams in development experience and process technology, the final frequency of kx-7000 processor can not reach the level of AMD or Intel. At present, 3GHz is achieved under 16nm process, and there is no public information about kx-7000 processor process. 7Nm is quite possible, even if the frequency is estimated to be 4GHz, it is good. 。
If it can achieve 8-core 4.0ghz with 7Nm process, then the kx-7000 with megacore can become the main force in the fields of government, enterprise and industry. Such performance is enough to replace amd / Intel's x86 processor. Although the gap will widen in a year or two, it is not a big problem for these fields.
In a word, if the test information of GK is true, then the domestic x86 processor has made great progress. Of course, there are still many ways to be done in terms of IPC performance, hyper threading, process improvement and ecological optimization, but the performance of IPC close to the top level is enough to prove that megacore has made great efforts in this respect.
