NASA will launch another rover on Mars this summer, according to foreign media BGR. Now, the rover is temporarily called the Mars 2020. To give it a more impressive new name, NASA asked K-12 students to submit essays with their name suggestions.

The students submitted nearly 30000 such essays, and thousands of volunteer referees spent hours judging. The entries were slowly screened until only 155 semi-finalists were left. Now, after NASA's further consideration, only nine finalists are still running.

"Thousands of students have shared their ideas and the name will make our rover team proud," NASA's Lori Glaze said in a statement. Thousands of volunteer hours are part of the review process. It's a moment for the public to participate and express the last nine shortlisted names they love.
