If you're still using the older version of Microsoft Edge, and after installing the new Chromium Microsoft Edge browser, you may have some problems synchronizing your favorites, as you're likely to encounter duplicate items that are confusing enough if you have a large collection. But now the problem has been solved, as our friend Richard Hay has discovered, The latest Microsoft Edge Dev version now has the option of deleting duplicate favorites.
Although we haven't seen this feature, it has appeared in some beta versions and has been officially confirmed as a new feature. As expected, users who download to the latest version can access the remove duplicates option from the Favorites menu in edge dev. Although this feature appears to be edge's workaround for various synchronization issues, because it removes duplicates, it does not prevent them from appearing first.
In a blog posted on wednesday, microsoft noted that "favorites synchronization issues, including synchronization, re-appearing deleted favorites and duplicate favorites" fixes are still scheduled for release in january.
The company also mentioned other features planned for this month, including the option to synchronize browsing history between devices, to synchronize installed browser extensions between devices, and to set custom photos as "new tab" background photos.
