According to DigiTimes, Apple plans to release an iPad Pro and iPhone in support of 5G in the second half of the year, with the latest A14 chip and a combination of mmWave and frequencies below 6GHz. Qualcomm is expected to provide iPhone with its snapdragon x55 modem, but the report does not specify which modem the iPad will use.
mmwave or mmwave is a set of 5g frequencies that can achieve ultrafast speeds over a short range and are therefore best suited to dense urban areas. by contrast,5g below 6 ghz is usually slower than mmwave, but the signal travels far enough to better serve suburban and rural areas.
DIGITIMES believes both iPhone and iPad Pro models are likely to be released in September. Apple usually releases the iPad ahead of time, but in September the iPad and iPhone 11 series were released at the same time.
ToF footage also has new news that WinSemi will be the only manufacturer of VCSEL components for TOF (Flight Time) AR and Field Depth (DoF) photography apps, as its U.S. IDM customers also get orders from Apple. Sources claim The TOF camera module is expected to be integrated into the 5g iPhone and iPad released in the second half of 2020.
