Speedometer measures performance by simulating user interaction in sample Web Applications (through multiple DOM APIs and popular JavaScript frameworks used by popular websites), and is generally considered to be a good proxy for real performance across many different subsystems, such as DOM, JavaScript engine, layout, etc.

The Microsoft edge team measured speedometer 2.0 in ten consecutive runs on Microsoft edge 79, which has not yet been optimized. The results are as follows:

Later, the team also ran speedometer 2.0 on the latest version of Microsoft edge 81, including new optimizations, with the following results:

Note: the above results are only benchmarked on Windows 10 1909 (operating system build 18363.592) on Microsoft Surface Pro 5 (Intel i5-8250u CPU 1.60ghz and 8 GB RAM), no other applications are running, and no other browser tabs are opened.
