On February 14, the General Administration of Customs of China released the import and export data of China's integrated circuits in 2019. Meanwhile, the National Bureau of statistics also released the production and sales of integrated circuits in China in 2019. At the same time, smart core has analyzed these two data, hoping to make you understand the development of China's integrated circuit industry more thoroughly.

1、 China's import of integrated circuits reached a new high, with the largest decline in the past five years

In 2019, China's import volume of integrated circuits will be about 445.13 billion yuan, reaching a new high with a year-on-year growth of 6.6%,The total amount of imports is about US $305.55 billion, a year-on-year decline of - 2.1%, compared with the double-digit growth rate of the previous two years, it can be said that there is an emergency brake. This is also the biggest decline in China's import of integrated circuits in the past five years.

The main reason for the decline in China's IC imports in 2019 is that it may have been included in the US list of Huawei and a number of domestic technology companies in 2019, according to the company

From the previous Huawei Mate305G disassembly (see Huawei Mate30 Pro5G disassembly: Self-developed chips account for more than half of the chip, the U. S. chip still exists! It can also be seen that 18 of the 36 major internal components, all from Huawei's self-developed chips, accounted for half of the total. Furthermore, it can be seen that for the first time,Huawei has introduced the home-made chip manufacturer guangdong hidi microelectronics battery management chip and the envelope tracking chip of lianfida. Apparently Huawei

According to the data of Gartner, a market research institution, Huawei spent more than 21 billion US dollars on semiconductor procurement in 2018, but in 2019, the expenditure on semiconductor procurement fell to 20.804 billion US dollars. It should be noted that in 2019, Huawei's overall revenue exceeded 850 billion yuan, an increase of about 18% year-on-year, and mobile phone shipments reached 240 million units, an increase of 16.8% year-on-year.

It should be noted that in terms of the amount in RMB published by the General Administration of customs, China's total IC import in 2019 will be about 2107.95 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 2.4%. However, the contrast between the import amount in USD and the import amount in RMB is mainly affected by the depreciation of RMB against USD in 2019.

The proportion of imported processor and control is the highest, and the average unit price of memory is the highest

Through the online query platform of Customs statistical data, smart core inquired the specific quantity and amount of various types of products imported by China's IC industry in 2019, and sorted them out as follows:

It can be seen that in 2019, the number of processors and controller related devices imported by China is about 120.7 billion, accounting for 23.07% of the total imports; the amount is US $142.477 billion, up 12.8% year-on-year, accounting for 46.63% of the total imports. Obviously, processors and controllers are still the most imported and the most expensive integrated circuit products.

In particular, at present, China's integrated circuit industry has made great progress in chip design. Some Chinese chip design enterprises represented by Huawei Hisilicon have entered the leading position in the world. Taking 5g as an example, only Qualcomm, Huawei, Samsung, MediaTek and Ziguang zhanrui can provide 5g chips, among which Huawei, MediaTek and Ziguang zhanrui are the only manufacturers Guangzhanrui is a Chinese enterprise.

However, many of the high-end chips of these chip design companies are produced in Taiwan's TSMC (TSMC's most advanced manufacturing process is 5 nm, while SMIC's in mainland China is now producing 14 nm), and the number and amount of imported processors and controllers have been growing rapidly in recent years.

On the other hand, although the total amount of memory imported in 2019 is about 41.78 billion pieces, only accounting for about 9.39% of the total import volume, its import volume of about 94.697 billion dollars accounts for about 31% of the total import volume. At the same time, the average unit price of memory is the highest.

However, the import of memory in 2019 is 23.1% lower than that in 2018. The share in the total also decreased significantly (about 39.4% in 2018).

In addition, the import volume of amplifiers is about 31.54 billion, up 6.8% year on year; the import volume is about 9.7 billion US dollars, down 1% year on year.

2、 China's IC export volume and export volume reach a new high

According to the latest data released by China Customs, China's IC export volume in 2019 is about 218.7 billion yuan, a new high, although compared with 217.1 billion yuan in 2018, it only increased by 0.7% (the growth rate in 2018 is 6.2%).

However, in terms of the amount of IC exports, in 2019, China's IC exports reached US $101.58 billion, an increase of 20% compared with us $84.64 billion in 2018, and a record high.

According to the data published by China Customs in RMB, China's IC export in 2019 is 700.82 billion yuan, a substantial increase of about 25.35% compared with 559.11 billion yuan in 2019 (the growth rate in 2018 is 26.6%).

Memory exports account for more than half, processor and controller exports account for 35.1%

So what are the main products of China's IC export in 2019? Through the online query platform of customs statistics, smart core inquired the specific quantity and amount of various types of products exported by China's IC industry in 2019, and sorted them out as follows:

As we can see from the above data,Memory is the product with the highest proportion of integrated circuit exports in China in 2019, followed by processors and controllers.

In 2019, China's memory export volume is about 21.93 billion pieces, up 3.3% year-on-year, and the export amount is about 52.38 billion US dollars, up 18.8% year-on-year, accounting for about 51.6% of the total export volume.

However, the export volume and export amount of this memory may be a lot contributed by foreign storage manufacturers in China. For example, Samsung Xi'an factory, SK Hynix Wuxi factory and Intel Dalian factory are all storage factories of foreign manufacturers in China.

Of course, there should also be some storage products made by Chinese manufacturers using storage particles from foreign manufacturers.

At present, domestic manufacturers are still weak in memory chip. At the end of 2018, the 32-layer 3D NAND flash memory chip of Yangtze River storage was mass produced, which also marks the birth of the first domestic 3D NAND memory chip. However, the 32-layer 3D NAND flash memory chips are relatively backward and few are shipped. In September 2019, the 64 layer 256gb TLC 3D NAND flash memory chips of the xtacking architecture developed by Changjiang storage Co., Ltd. were officially mass produced and began to compete for the current middle and low-end market, but the overall shipment is not large.

Similarly, in terms of domestic memory chips, at present, only Changxin memory realized the mass production of 8GB DDR4 at the end of last year.

In addition to memory, processors and controllers account for a considerable proportion of the total exports.

In 2019, China's export volume of processors and controllers will be about 78.15 billion,Although the export volume decreased by 5.2% year on year, the export amount increased by 21.0% year on year, reaching about US $35.65 billion, accounting for 35.1% of the total export volume.

At present, with the rapid development of domestic manufacturers in the field of processors and controllers, and the relatively few processors and controllers of foreign manufacturers produced in China, this data really reflects the breakthrough of domestic processors and controller manufacturers in product performance, product quality and unit price to a certain extent, as well as the domestic chip foundry represented by SMIC international and Huahong The factory is catching up with the advanced technology.

3、 China's IC production and sales in 2019

According to the latest data released by the National Bureau of statistics, the National IC output in 2019 is about 2018.2 billion pieces, an increase of 16% compared with 2018 (173.95 billion pieces). Among them, the output of integrated circuits in December 2019 is about 20.156 billion, an increase of 30% compared with the same period in 2018.

In terms of regions, there are six provinces and cities with integrated circuit output exceeding 10 billion blocks in 2019, namely Jiangsu Province, Gansu Province, Guangdong Province, Shanghai City, Beijing city and Zhejiang Province. Among them, Jiangsu Province's integrated circuit output in 2019 is 51.629 billion blocks, accounting for 26%, ranking the first in China, and Zhejiang Province has the largest growth rate. In 2019, the integrated circuit output is 14.345 billion blocks, up 119.48% year-on-year, accounting for 7%, ranking sixth in the country.

In terms of IC sales, China's total IC sales in 2019 is 455.41 billion. As we have seen before, the domestic output of integrated circuits is only 2009.3 billion yuan. Obviously, most of the sales volume needs to be made up by imports.

In recent years, with the country's attention to the integrated circuit industry, and the country

According to the data previously released by ICCAD, in 2019, the number of IC design companies in mainland China alone reached 1780, an increase of 82 compared with 2018, a year-on-year increase of 4.8%.

It is worth noting that since 2012, the number of IC design enterprises in mainland China has maintained growth for eight consecutive years. In particular, in 2014, the state increased investment in the integrated circuit industry. After the establishment of the first phase of the big fund, the number of IC design enterprises accelerated growth, especially in 2016, compared with 2015, a sharp rise of 85%, followed by a 23% year-on-year growth in 2018.

From the above data of China's import and export of integrated circuits in recent years, although the current import volume of integrated circuits is still growing, but after the previous two years of sustained double-digit growth in the import volume, the growth trend has begun to decline, and even negative growth in 2019.

This reflects to a certain extent that China's integrated circuit industry is dissolving

In addition, China's IC export volume has continued to double-digit growth in the past two years, and has set a new record, which also reflects the rapid development of China's IC industry. While accelerating the solution of its own needs, China is also gradually moving towards the global market. Especially in 2019, when the export volume only increased by 0.7% year on year, the export volume increased by 20%, which also reflected the improvement of the quality and unit price of the integrated circuit products exported by China.

Finally, it should be pointed out that with the development of China's integrated circuit industry, the number of patent applications and authorizations reflecting the improvement of the overall technology level of the integrated circuit industry has also maintained a rapid growth.

According to the main work statistics of 2019 disclosed by the State Intellectual Property Office on January 14, 2020, in 2019, 8319 applications for integrated circuit layout design registration were received, up 87.7% year on year, and 6614 certificates for integrated circuit layout design were issued, up 73.4% year on year.
