On March 25, at the 2019 Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Conference, the "research and application of key technologies for direct current of optical storage air conditioning" independently developed by Gree Electric won the first prize of technological invention.It is understood that Gree R & D team, based on the characteristics of variable frequency power consumption of air conditioning equipment, put forward a new idea of combining new energy DC power supply with air conditioning system to improve the power utilization efficiency of the system, breaking through the DC Direct drive multiple converter, mode switching control, multi energy complementary and other technical neck, and finally developed the "no power charge" optical storage air conditioning DC into a set of technology.
Photovoltaic air conditioning will turn a "power consumption equipment" into a "power generation equipment", and store the electricity to realize the direct and efficient use of energy. The traditional air conditioner uses alternating current, while the photovoltaic cell board sends out direct current. After one year's efforts, in 2013, Gree Electric developed and successfully applied the photovoltaic direct drive variable frequency centrifugal unit, which is the world's first research and development of "central air conditioning without electricity charge".
In 2016, Gree Electric photovoltaic air conditioning realized full seriation. At the beginning of 2018, Gree Electric won the bid for the world's largest photovoltaic air conditioning project, the Phoenix world trade center in the United States. Based on the photovoltaic installed capacity of the project, which can generate 10.5 million kilowatt hours of electricity each year, the annual carbon dioxide emission reduction is 8600 tons, equivalent to planting a forest of about 4.3 million square meters each year.
The R & D achievements have obtained 146 authorized invention patents, and the overall technology has reached the "international leading" level. Today, Gree photovoltaic technology has been widely used at home and abroad, serving 25 countries and regions around the world.
