SMIC previously announced that the 14nm process will be mass produced at the end of last year, which is the most advanced process developed in China,Huawei has been entrusted with manufacturing Kirin 710A processor。 In addition, there are other customers for the domestic 14nm process. M31 technology recently announced that serdesphy chip was produced by SMIC 14nm.

Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Xinzhu Science and Technology Park, Xstar M31 is a semiconductor company mainly engaged in the design of high-speed transmission IP chips. The chip they produced in SMIC is a kind of serdesphy physical chip with multiple interface protocols. The high-speed interface IP includes usb3.2phy, pciegen3 / Gen2 / gen1phy, and the application field includes network communication and high-performance computing.

Serdesphy, a variety of protocols developed by M31, provides high-performance, multi-channel capability and low-power architecture for high broadband applications, supports data rates up to 10.3125gbps, and can be applied to standards including XFI, SFI, 10gbase-kr, CEI, XAUI, usxgmii, qsgmii and sgmii.

In addition,At the same time, they also use the 14 nm process of SMIC to produce the foundation IP, including the 12 track high-efficiency standard cell library, etc., to provide customers with a variety of advanced process IP options.

For SMIC, only customers like Huawei are not enough. Wafer foundry is a super complex work, which requires many partners to cooperate. Various IP chips provided by M31 are also a very important part, because not all semiconductor companies can and need to develop their own IP cores. With M31 IP cores, they can quickly produce their own chips , which is also very important for SMIC.
