In addition to off screen fingerprints, apple is also preparing a foldable iPhone, as can be seen from the large number of patents they have applied for.
According to the latest foreign media reports, apple put forward a unique method of folding glass screen in a patent application filed in March 2020. The foldable iPhone will include two glass panels like surface duo instead of one folding panel like Samsung Galaxy fold.
Apple's patent document suggests cutting a series of grooves inside the glass surface, which will give the glass the flexibility to bend without breaking, a process known in wood as Kerfing.
In the patent, apple proposes to fill the groove with an elastic polymer or liquid with the same refractive index as glass, so that people can hardly see the existence of the groove.
It has been reported that apple is developing a prototype of a foldable iPhone, which features two independent display panels connected by hinges instead of a single screen like the Samsung Galaxy fold. In other words, Apple's new model looks more like Microsoft's surface Neo and surface Duo, both of which are folding dual display devices, feature two screens hinged together.
The foldable iPhone is similar in design language to its current iPhone 11, and has a rounded stainless steel frame with no frame
Apple avoids installing the screen on the hinge, which avoids the design problems of Samsung Galaxy fold. Folding the screen on the screen will cause great loss to the screen.
