Google is working with the associated press to provide authoritative results for next week's election, as well as other voting related functions.Simply search for "election results" in the search box of the Google and its associated services. The system will pop up a special feature to provide the latest election-related information, while also searching through Google Assistant on devices such as smart speakers.
Google is the latest in several attempts to prepare for a potentially chaotic voting and counting process. Google announced last month that it would ban ads related to the u.s. election after the vote ended on november 3rd in an attempt to prevent candidates from prematurely claiming victory. At the same time, the company released an update on potential election-related hacking activities, added sections to the YouTube to address voting-related misinformation, and launched sections such as Google News Center for the 2020 election. From the beginning of this month, users can also search or map the location of polling stations.
The company has provided such features in previous elections, and Google partnered with the Associated Press in 2016
Other web platforms are launching similar information tools for elections. Yesterday, twitter added a banner to tell users that election results might be delayed, and provided information about voting by mail, and Facebook added a reminder function to its app.
