China drilled 8874.4 meters of Asia's deepest well

On October 24, the "Shunbei 53-2h well" in Northwest Oilfield was successfully drilled with a depth of 8874.4 meters, setting a record for the deepest directional well in Asia, 29.97 meters higher than the world's highest peak, Everest.This also broke the Asian well depth record of 8725 meters set by "Shunbei 55x well" three months ago.

It is reported that both records are from team 80117 of Sinopec Shengli Petroleum Engineering Company Tarim branch.

"Shunbei 53-2h well" is a four opening evaluation horizontal well in shuntogole low uplift area of Shunbei block in the hinterland of Taklimakan Desert. The original design depth of well is 8338m, and it is deepened to 8874.4m according to the geological needs.
