The covid-19 epidemic has not slowed down the work of Gnome 40... In addition to GTK 4.0 released this week, Gnome shell developers continue to push forward some visible improvements, which are planned for the 2021 desktop update.Gnome shell developers have been focusing on providing better overview space organization, more useful startup and empty status, improved touchpad navigation, and more attractive app browsing and startup experience.
One of the larger areas of concern is a comprehensive overview of Gnome shell activities, along with better customization support for application grids, and other improvements.
The following Gnome diagram outlines some of the work in progress. This work is not yet complete, but developers hope to do it in time for the March release of Gnome 40.
