According to reports, Zhu shining, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from Nanjing University, used two UAVs to organize in the air, and through optical relay, realized entangled photon distribution between two ground stations 1000 meters apart.
This proves the feasibility of multi node mobile quantum network, and marks a key step towards the practicality of quantum network.
The related research results have been published in physics review express, an international well-known academic journal.
Last year, academician Zhu shining's team successfully used a single UAV for quantum communication for the first time. From single node quantum link to mobile quantum network, relay node is essential, and there can not be only one UAV.
Finally, after many experiments, the team proved that the optical relay can highly maintain the entanglement characteristics of photon pairs, and it is an effective quantum link.
In the future, high altitude cruise UAVs can be used to establish quantum links with a distance of more than 300 km, and then low-cost small UAVs can be responsible for small-scale quantum communication between urban and rural areas, and mobile quantum networks can be built with the flexibility of UAV formation.
