This week, facing the new edge browser based on chromium, Microsoft updated several icons along with a series of new color themes, and introduced a new sleep tag function to improve browser and overall PC performance. First of all, to celebrate the first anniversary of the official release of the new version of edge, Microsoft introduced new themes including halo and Microsoft Flight Simulator, and adjusted the new tab, tab, address bar and other parts of the browser.
Microsoft has also upgraded multiple icons of edge browser to better match the fluent design system. Liat Ben zur, a Microsoft executive in charge of the "modern life" campaign, explained: "in our latest version, you will notice subtle updates to the icons in Microsoft edge, which are more mellow and softer in appearance. This is just the beginning of our design journey. We are already imagining how to bring fluent design to the whole product. We can't wait to share more visions in the near future.
In addition to appearance, Microsoft also introduced some practical functions. Microsoft is now opening the sleep tag function to more users to improve browser performance. Edge will now automatically release system resources for inactive tabs when you open multiple tabs, which will help new tabs run better or prevent browsers from taking up memory and CPU resources in the background.
Microsoft is also taking steps to introduce new password manager functions. When you sign up for a new website or try to change an existing password, edge will start automatically recommending a secure and complex password. Edge will also get a new password monitoring feature that will alert you if your password is leaked online.
