A paper by American scientists in the Journal of bioactive materials has aroused widespread concern in the industry. The developed contraceptive gel can kill sperm and destroy the virus at the same time.
It is based on carbomer acrylic polymer with the addition of gossypol, tenofovir and nitroglycerin.
In vitro laboratory experiments, the researchers found that each milliliter containing 10 micrograms of gossypol gel samples can kill the pig sperm 100% in 30 seconds.
Even with a lower concentration of gossypol, the gel can still destroy all sperm within 180 seconds. Further experiments show that gelatin can inhibit one kind of lentivirus (HIV is one of them) without damaging the vaginal epithelial cells.
In addition, studies have shown that the gel can improve sexual desire, and scientists are doing more tests to pave the way for subsequent businesses.
