Samsung announced today that a new solution called mobility enhancer can improve the quality of mobile networks. As the name suggests, the focus of this technology is to improve the user's mobile experience, and the mobile devices usually cause data speed deterioration due to signal instability.Mobility enhancer is Samsung's software solution for its massive MIMO radio. It improves the beamforming technology in these radios to make it more accurate for mobile users.

Samsung tested the technology in the field test, and found that for a walking user, the data throughput increased by 30%. Jeong Ho Park, vice president of Samsung networks and head of advanced systems design lab, said mobility enhancer is one of the key developments in Samsung's efforts to innovate mobile networks and help push 5g performance to a new level.

As this is a software solution, it is easier to upgrade than new hardware. Samsung said that it will provide software updates for its massive MIMO radio worldwide this year, so these performance improvements should not be too far. More importantly, although the focus of technology research and development is 5g, this technology should also benefit 4G users.
