The third-party linux driver of Apple's MacBook Pro touch bar is trying to get closer to the main line

via:cnBeta.COM     time:2021/3/1 0:06:51     readed:261

For more than four years, Apple's MacBook Pro has been using the touch bar as a display / control bar input device above these notebook keyboards. Although it is reported that Apple may phase out touch bar in future models, the open source Linux driver of the component is still working towards the mainline kernel.

In addition, due to the need for Apple ibridge (T1 security chip) driver to dock with iSIGHT webcam, light sensor and fingerprint sensor, the coverage of Linux driver is mainly focused on touch bar and light sensor / ALS support.

Efforts to support Apple touch bar on Linux have been going on for several years, although progress has been slow due to the limited number of developers involved and no support from apple.
