On March 10, Beijing time, a group of hackers said that they had invaded the massive surveillance camera data collected by verkada, a silicon valley surveillance start-up company. They could see the real-time video of 150000 surveillance cameras in hospitals, companies, police stations, prisons and schools.

Companies whose surveillance videos have been exposed include Tesla and cloudflare, a software provider. In addition, hackers were able to see videos from women's health clinics, mental hospitals and inside verkada's own office. One of the videos was taken from inside Tesla's Shanghai warehouse and showed workers on the assembly line. Hackers said they were able to access 222 cameras in Tesla's factories and warehouses.
