Mars willpower: who's blocking my Wi Fi!

Now, Mars is more and more lively.

More exploration means a deeper understanding of Mars, but it also brings a thorny problem

It would complicate radio interference in space.

It's like when we make a phone call, the signal is poor, and there are a lot of callers nearby. The final result is as follows:

The current call quality is poor.

Is there no solution?

In fact, uploading data from Mars is not a simple matter in itself.

The longest distance from Mars to the earth is 400 million kilometers. Long distance transmission not only takes a long time, but also causes signal loss.

However, the X-band communication system used by the detector before is often slow or less.

It uses an X-band system to transmit data, and it can transmit 80 megabytes a day, which has already made the researchers very happy.

At night, the detector will go to sleep after a day's work.

When the orbiter passes over it, it uses UHF (300-300ghz) to transmit a large amount of data.

First, internal harmony

Although there is no danger in the end, it also proves that radio interference is indeed a hidden danger that can not be ignored.

The United States, which has the largest number of Mars probes, has built a Mars relay network to enable them to cooperate with each other and achieve a certain degree of automation.

In this process, we need to use a scheduling tool called MAROS.

After collecting data, the rover will first detect which satellite it can send data to. After the detection, it will send the results to MAROS, and then complete the scheduling to receive the data.

However, the researchers also said that with more and more detectors, the network will become more complex in the future.

What should we do in the future?

In fact, when dealing with the interference between aircraft, the electromagnetic wave generated by avionics will also interfere with the data transmission.

For example, when using some specific instruments, the UHF must be turned off.

For this problem, scientists have not yet found a very good solution.
