According to CCTV's financial program, not long ago, the Long March 5 rocket engine was successfully tested in full working condition and half system, which will provide a reliable power guarantee for China's aerospace industry.
This test is the first full working condition test of this type of engine. The process of start-up, transfer stage, variable working condition and shutdown is stable. The design, manufacture and test scheme of the engine are verified, which lays a foundation for the further development of the whole engine test.
Compared with the 120 ton LOX-KEROSENE high pressure supplementary combustion engine, the thrust is increased by 3 times, the specific impulse is increased by 3%, and the thrust mass ratio is increased by 25%. The comprehensive performance index of the engine has reached the world advanced level.
It is very important to reduce the weight of the rocket engine without affecting the thrust and carrying capacity. Chen Hui, deputy chief R & D Engineer of heavy rocket engine in the sixth Institute of Aerospace Science and technology group, led the team to make extensive use of digital topology technology, which reduced the weight of 500 ton heavy rocket engine by 30%, and found a balance between thrust and load.
The output power of the 500 ton engine turbopump is as high as 120000 kW, which is equivalent to that of a small hydropower station. The heavy-duty carrier rocket can carry 12 engines, which can theoretically reach the takeoff thrust of 6000 tons. Experts say that it can provide 150 tons of load for the low earth orbit, which will provide strong support for the moon landing and deeper space exploration.
